Do-it-yourself works

My grandmother was a master Stitcher. As a two year old, I sat on the ground, feeling the rumble of her feet upon the treadle of the Singer machine. Its glorious black & gold designs making way into my imagination.

She sewed everything. I would finger the stitched places in our well mended jumpers. I know how to spell LOVE and it was in that thread. Stitching is sacred. I enact it in my work, a sacred seamstress to bring Grandma’s fingers to life, for you.

Sewing machine needle and guide foot, in black and white evoking old time hobby inspired by blog story.

My Grandfather was the fixer of small appliances. There was the balance; Grandma mended the clothes, Grandpa fixed the appliances. His faith in restoration and a well-placed screwdriver was the foundation for my values. Together, they built my faith in a job well done & do-it-yourself living.

Thus, I went to the bookstore instead of a mentor. I went to India instead of a local ashram. I went to the forest instead of a guru. They showed me the power of simple, well placed tools to re-store everything and anything.

Allow this hard found wisdom within me to be put to good use.
